ABOUT US ~ The Goldrush Story

My love of Dog showing firstly began in 1989 while living in Cowra NSW, a town in the Mid West of NSW. Cowra was holding its annual Dog Show and I decided this could be heaps of fun to go and watch and to also get me out of Farm duties for a little while..... While walking around the show I was amazed at all the Beautifully Groomed and simply amazing Dogs that were being shown!! I came across one of the most stunning Border Collies I had ever seen - being shown by Alison Cowin his name was Ch Ansavon Scotsman. Although I new nothing about Border Collies back then, one thing I did know forshore is that I had to have a puppy to show exactly like him.

After contacting the Border Collie Club of NSW they put me in touch with (my now mentor) Rosemary Easton of Montego Golden Retrievers and Danbeth Border Collies.

Rose entrusted me with a Border Collie Puppy / Danbeth Dealers Choice "Maverick". Maverick was a great boy for my first dog that I ever showed. Maverick however had other ideas and really didn't like showing. But it was too late for me the showing Bug had HIT!!

Maverick and I would head off to the shows around the Mid West. I loved every minute of it, even though Maverick didn't. Whilst showing Maverick I would see all these Beautiful Golden Retrievers being Shown in the other ring. I was also a bit more experienced in ring showmanship by now and this is where My Love of Golden Retrievers started. I knew that Rose also Showed and Bred Champion Golden Retrievers under the Montego Prefix.

Rose and I would chat on the phone for ages and ages about Goldies and then finally it was my turn to own a "Montego". Rose had had a beautiful Goldie returned to her by the Name of Montego Hearts and Roses "Darcy" and Rose thought Darcy would be the one for me.

Well how right was Rose. Darcy was such a lovely girl and ended up being the Foundation Bitch for Goldrush Kennels. Darcy gained her Australian Championship Title in no time at all and truly loved showing. She was always the first to jump into the trailer to go to the shows. She was definelty my "Show Girl". Darcy accumulated many In show Awards at Championship Shows and also Specialty Shows. The two of us as a team also won many Lady Handler Classes.

When it came time to find a stud for Darcy we ended up acquiring Ch Gunarryn Starlight "Najee". He was a big robust boy and truly loved the girls. From the Mating between Darcy and Najee they ended up having 9 puppies. I kept two of the Girls.. Ch Goldrush Simply Snazzy "Sophie" and Ch. Goldrush Fanci Pantz "Hannah".

From my first litter and the success I had, I continued to show and breed. I acquired BIS Ch. Montego Just Cruising and Ch. Montego Made for Keeps.

Cruise was my show Boy and I had so much fun with him and Madison in the showring.

My life took a different direction and I left Cowra for the Sunny Goldcoast to be near family.

After a break from the showring, and having my own "Maternal duties" with the birth of my gorgeous Daughter Jessica.

Showfever has struck again and along with my budding Junior Handler Jessica we are back in the Qld showring with my new baby golden Girl Montego Reminiscing. I look forward to all the good times ahead with showing my "Remi".

See you ringside.
